NBU BANQUET AND AUCTION
Nevada Bighorns Unlimited
NBU holds one fundraising event per year. The annual banquet and auction attract over 2200 hunting enthusiasts and wildlife lovers from all over North America. The funds generated from this event are what enable NBU to accomplish their mission. The banquet includes an elaborate dinner, impressive displays of sporting and outdoor merchandise, fine wildlife artwork, outstanding taxidermy, and an incredible display of some of Nevada’s finest trophies.
The Main Event The banquet will bring spectacular auction item donated by retailers, outfitters, manufacturers, taxidermists, artists, organizations, individuals, and many others from all over the world. The highest bidders will walk away with everything from guided big game hunts, to river rafting trips, to photographic safaris. Silent auctions and raffles are also held for items such as, fur coats, artwork, vacations, and custom rifles. The 2018 banquet will feature a taxidermy competition in which attendees can vote on their favorite piece submitted by some of the best taxidermists in western United States.
Heritage Auction Tags
The 2018 banquet will feature an auction for a Nevada Heritage Tag (similar to other states’ “Governor’s Tags”). A Desert Bighorn Sheep tag will be available for purchase with the successful bidder having the opportunity to hunt statewide, with any legal weapon, during liberal season calendars. Nevada Department of Wildlife’s Heritage for Wildlife Trust Fund
The auction price of the Heritage tags have increased dramatically with the proceeds from these tags going directly to Nevada Department of Wildlife’s heritage for Wildlife Trust Fund. By statute, only the interest from this trust fund can be expended, and the monies can only be utilized in Fish and Wildlife programs.
Awards are also given honoring the generous support of individuals and organizations for their contributions to NBU and Nevada’s wildlife. Children attending the event also receive special attention with their own drawings and prizes awarded.
NBU’s programs and projects involving big game reintroduction, habitat improvement, education, and research is only possible through the contributions, combined efforts and support of concerned community leaders, generous organizations and conscientious individuals.
The success and participation each year at NBU’s banquet, as well as NBU’s growing membership are evidence that we are on the right track.
